You may have never experienced properly fitting footwear; it may be that Mephisto will fit differently than any shoe you have ever worn. This is a common experience and it should be noted that proper fit is critical to comfort. With walking, it is important to give your toes a substantial degree of freedom. They should never be “locked in”, one against another. Mephisto shoes should provide plenty of room in the toe area. The same thinking applies to your heel. The Mephisto heel is not designed to fit snug. A comfortable walking shoe will flex and bend with your foot. Your foot should be cradled, not bound. A properly fitting shoe should not have to be “broken in” to be comfortable…they should be comfortable from the very first step you take.
Sizing
Sizing can vary from style to style which means you may not wear the same size in all your shoes. Also, our sandals are available in full sizes only. If you are normally a half size in a Mephisto shoe, you should size up to the next size. Below are some size conversion charts which offer general guidelines for converting your size to another scale.

This is my 2nd pair, size 37. I love this color. The first one was of the same size in black bought in 2022.
I never stopped loving this brand, specifically this style, since my Podiatrist recommended this pair as my house slippers. His diagnosis was flat arches which contributed to my chronic lower back pain. I told him it’s ugly and almost hesitated to buy it since I have a pair of Birkenstock already. I’m glad the Podiatrist insisted I get this pair and I’m so glad I did because this pair is by far way better than my Birkenstock, comfort-wise! No break ins and true to size. I never have to adjust the buckles, it just fits perfectly.
However, it does take time getting used to, at least for me. I mostly wore high heels (not anymore) and have had no experience wearing wedge sandals before so because of the tapered height, I slipped while at home walking on hard floor and sprained my right ankle in December 2025. It almost happened again early this year so just be careful!
Other than that, I’m never going back. This is my go-to house slippers for life! It is well worth the price. Thanks Mephisto.

My 1st pair of sandals are 4 years old. I wear them year-round and they still look new. Once broken in they are the most comfortable shoes I've ever had. I only bought a 2nd pair because I wanted a different color. 110% satisfied and I highly recommend them which I often do.

They are great sandals. The last pair I had were sort of Zebra striped and the leather was too thin so the straps kept collapsing so that they were not easy to slip into. These are thicker and I think will stay upright better.
This pair is the third pair of Zack's I have purchased in the past several years. The first two were flawless. This new pair have a small distortion at the left toe under the strap. I have worn them since I received them, however, I have had to revert to one of my older pair since the irritation of the toe has become significant. I have ground the area of the distortion a small amount but not enough to be able to wear the shoe until the toe irritation subsides somewhat.
Have worn these shoes for years! Will continue to buy them. They keep my feet in good health.
